Altered Clock and WOW Embossing Powders

Re-blogged by me from WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS

Hello and welcome back to WOW Embossing Powders,  Donna here today to share a project that I created.  This months theme is TIME.  It took a while to think what I could create, but once I had that pic in my mind it came together nicely.

I have had this Tim Holtz clock for a while now and knew I wanted to do something special with it.  I thought it would fit nicely into this months theme of time.

There was a lot of prep work for this project.  I covered the entire clock in white distress paint.  Why you ask, to give my surface some tooth.  I knew I wanted to emboss on it and I needed something for the embossing powder to grip to.  Once my paint was dry I covered it in a layer of Blue Topaz (such a stunning colour)  and heat embossed it.  I then got a mask out and in sections I added versa mark ans then vanilla white, again heat embossing.
I then spent some time adding more embossing powder for highlights,  I added Calypso to areas and  to blend them in I added more Vanilla White.  After I had got the colours right in my mind I then added some distress paint to areas.
For the inside of my clock I tissue papered and then sprayed with Lindy’s gang sprays (fallen in love with these) then added some fussy cutting and built up a scene.  I have used Memory Maze chipboard birds and embossed them with Blue berry
These lovely little memory Maze Girls have been embossed with Seafoam White and added to my scene with some foam dots.  Once my scene was complete I added to clock frame with some flowers and a wee saying.  To me one of the girls is telling some thing to the other,  so I found the quote ” Time is Precious, waste it wisely”  which again goes really well with our theme .

Who’s Up For A Challenge….

Hello all,  it’s that time of month again for another new Challenge over at ANOTHER FREAKING SCRAPPY CHALLENGE…

Time for our sketch challenge.  You have until the last day of the month at 9 PM EST to play along.  Here’s the sketch:

Here’s What I did

I used a Chipboard Background frame from Memory Maze Chipboard and added a mixture of mediums to it,  Distress Paint, Wow Embossing Powders, Distress inks and some stamping.

I made a cluster of flower and leaves, added some bling and some flourishesDSCF6429I spent a while on those butterflies,  I split them down the middle and embossed the insides and then embossed the top before adding to the background frame.DSCF6430 I just love layers 🙂DSCF6431Some of my kids, the younger 4 who keep me on the go 24/7,  love them to bits and this photo really shows their personal characters.

Well I hope you enjoyed my wee share today and I look forward to seeing what you create for this challenge.  Remember you have until the end of the month to get your entry in!

Have fun and take care  xox Donna

Getting all Inky ….

Isn’t it amazing how doing something so simple like putting ink to paper can soothe your mind.  It’s been full on here at the moment, the end of school holidays, getting everything ready for school,  Debbie starting counselling a couple of times a week and just the everyday buzzio of a large family.   Yesterday I felt so flat until a bestie came round and let me spill my beans for a while ( you know who you are and thank you )

I woke up lighter and had all these ideas of what we would do… lol none of it happened   We did all our school supply’s and then I just went to sit at my table to dream a bit….   and my hands started playing 🙂

I actually started on a canvas, after I had done the background I used a mask and added gesso.  What you see here is the piece of scrap paper that I used the brayer on the back to clean my mask.  I turned it over and had this lovely print in gesso of the mask.  I started playing while my gesso on the canvas dried.

I played with lots of sprays and inks to make layers.  I discovered this really cool way of applying distress stains, which I am going to do a tutorial on.  It’s very simple( promise I will do very soon)

I got some masks out and just kept building and building those layers

I got some stamps out on a separate bit of card and embossed with WOW Super Fine Clear Embossing Powder  and then coloured in with sprays
and a water brush, cut them out and popped them on to page.

To finish it off I wanted to pop one of Tim Holtz  saying on it but it was to small, so I just wrote it on.

What do you think!  I really like it.  Well that’s all I have to share tonight.  I’m off to go design classes for Scrapbook Paradise,  Is there anything you ladies really want to do?  Leave a comment and I will see what I can do 🙂

Happy Scrappin every one xox Donna 🙂
