Challenge from Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge: “We have two challenges every month, and you can play along with our prompt challenge and sketch challenge everyone month until the end of the month. Don’t be shy, we love to see everyone’s work here. Here is our prompt challenge for May – come play along!!! The prompt is: Scrap or art journal your baby picture. Journal anything unusual or interesting – were you a twin? Sickly? Curious? Our sponsor is Scrapbook Fantasies, owned by design team member Alicia Redshaw. Alicia will send a beautiful pack of ribbons to a randomly drawn participant.” Here is my take on the challenge, I have decided as a challenge to myself to do the prompt challenges in my art journal and to try a new technique each time.
I love my inks and it is my go to product ALL THE TIME, so this time I have used NONE! I have used paint! shock horror, and I must say that I like it 🙂 Its taken a while for me to get my head around paint but I am finally starting to figure out what you can create with them, so many options! So now its your turn to find your baby photos and join in on our challenge. Look forward to seeing what you create. Please stop on over at the blog and check out the other ladies dt work for ideas…. Happy scrappin every one, take care Donna xox

Hello all, it’s that time of month again for another new Challenge over at ANOTHER FREAKING SCRAPPY CHALLENGE…
Time for our sketch challenge. You have until the last day of the month at 9 PM EST to play along. Here’s the sketch:
Here’s What I did
I used a Chipboard Background frame from Memory Maze Chipboard and added a mixture of mediums to it, Distress Paint, Wow Embossing Powders, Distress inks and some stamping.
I made a cluster of flower and leaves, added some bling and some flourishesI spent a while on those butterflies, I split them down the middle and embossed the insides and then embossed the top before adding to the background frame.
I just love layers 🙂
Some of my kids, the younger 4 who keep me on the go 24/7, love them to bits and this photo really shows their personal characters.
Well I hope you enjoyed my wee share today and I look forward to seeing what you create for this challenge. Remember you have until the end of the month to get your entry in!
Have fun and take care xox Donna
Graphic 45 Design Team 2014 Audition
YES! It’s that time of year again! Time to pull together my favourite projects and apply for the Graphic 45 Design Team. People who know me, know I am a BIG Graphic 45 fan. Super exciting, I am even going to meet them this year. I’m actually counting down the days like a wee school girl! So this year I have collected a few pretties from Graphic 45 which is pretty hard to get here in Dunedin but our local scrap-booking shop does there best to keep my cravings in control.
STEAMPUNK SPELL SHADOW BOX
I found this old frame at the local op shop. I brought it home, stripped the box back to its bones and then had fun covering it in Steampunk Spells paper collection. I fussy cut the frame out and attached to the front of the frame, I had to be a bit inventive here as It did not cover it completely.
After adding my background papers to the frame. I spent some time cutting all the clocks out. Once cut out I attached some of them to the background paper and then added the rest with 3D foam to build my page up.
After adding several layers of clocks I cut out the lady, again attaching her with more 3D foam.
I cut the eyes, peacock feathers and butterflies out of my all time favourite range, Olde Curiosity Shoppe to add a bit more interest to my project. The wee charm in the centre is from my daughters charm bracelet which broke. She is very happy to see its going to good use 🙂
I added glossy accents to the bike handle frame and to take the glossy effect off I added a metallic rub over top. I added this photo to show the depth of my shadow box.
A GENTLE LADY
This project was created as a gift which I am sure will be received well. Another up cycled project using the delicious A ladies’ Diary Collection. I love this range and sometimes it’s so hard to choose what side of the paper you want to use.
This project required gentle colours and patterns for my flowers . I created my flowers using the cricut. I added old vintage buttons and bling to the centre of the flowers to make them pop. I inked the edges with Victorian Velvet, Weathered Wood and Antique Linen to give them a vintage look. My lady is from the Silhoutte store, she has had a coat of Antique Linen distress paint for colouring of skin. I added lace to the bonnet and then applied my flowers. Her blouse was created out of the same papers I made the flowers with, lace and ribbon was added as a collar to her blouse.
MY LOVE, MY WORLD
Yes this is my family, I have a few of them 🙂 and I would not change it for the world. This project proudly hangs in our living room. The background glass panel has been embossed with a stencil and white embossing powder.
I used the Little Darling Collection to create my flowers, I love the soft colours of these papers and it added colour without taking away any attention from my photos . Each flower has its own different centre and then inked in distress ink to finish them off.
The branches and white roses were made by melting white ultra thick embossing powder and set in moulds. I have embossed the little metal clips to suit the colour scheme.
ANGEL
Altered book Project.
This project was so much fun to make, using a collection of embellishments and flowers I have made a scene to surround my photo.
I have added lots of little details and had fun playing around with placement of product.
close up of other side. This project is currently at work on display as I will be teaching this as a class.
ALTERED PAPER BAG ALBUM
This album was created as a class that I taught at Scrapbooking Paradise where I work and was very popular. The front cover is very dimensional with lots of interest.
Inside the album is pages to attach your photos on.
Each page has been embellished differently with either diecuts, stickers and ribbons.
Each page has a pocket, where two sheets have been added to use as photo mats or journalling.
POCKET SCRAPBOOKING PAGE
Graphic 45 have a wide range of papers and I found these papers to fit perfectly with a trip we did over the school term break. I loved how there is background papers that can be cut up and used in projects to highlight the more decorative images that are on the front . For this project I used Steampunk Spells, I cut the images out and made my own pocket cards to suit the theme of our trip. JUST PERFECT!
WEDDING CARD
Using left over paper from making my Place In Time calendar I created a simple but stunning card for the bride and groom on their big day.I have matted the images I wanted to pop out and added 3D foam to build my card up. I have added lots of little extra details to make it special.
Well what a post, Full of my favourite projects. I hope you liked what you have seen. I have added a few other projects and layouts below to show you my range of style.
Thank you Graphic 45 for looking over my application. I REALLY REALLY hope you like it! To all that is applying this year, best of crafty luck to you all. I am enjoying seeing what others have been creating and its all just AMAZING! please feel free to leave a comment I would love to hear what you think.
A Memory Maze Share
Aside
Hello all, today its my turn to share over at Memory maze blog.
Creative Play
Hello all, its been a busy month here! But I am slowly getting my list down YAY. Today I want to show you a project I have been playing round in my mind for a while and I am happy to say It’s finished and I LOVE it!
Here is my Hat Lady.
I have made all the flower apart from three wee ones. I have used a mixture of dies, punches and cricut cartridges to make my flowers. I embossed the back frame in White embossing powder from WOW Embossing Powders to make my lady stand out from the page. I have used Graphic 45 papers to make all my flowers and used Helmar glue to attach all my vintage buttons to the centres. I went op shopping to find an old wooden frame. I could not find what I had in my mind and settled for a simple one which I have embossed Copper and then used metallic rubs to age the embossing.
I really do love how this has turned out. I also used Helmar glue to attach my flowers to the hat. Well I hope this post finds you all healthy and happy. Will be back again very soon with another project to share, until then…. Happy Scrappin xox Donna

Challenge Time over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge
How exciting to see Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge up and running again. Our first challenge is a sketch challenge and a fun one to! Here is the sketch…….
From the creator Anne……
A New Year and goals are set! First challenge for 2014
One thing I used to love doing was to join in scrapbooking challenges, something I have not done for a very long time. Last night My friend and I were checking something out on Facebook when a post on my news feed caught my eye… (click on the photo and it will take you to Sketchabilities blog)
I just loved the look of it and instead of doing what I had planned with some mouse traps (lol more on that later, and no we don’t have mice 🙂 I decided to give the sketch a go. After going through my papers which is a mission in its self I came back to doing what I love, creating with ink and making my own. I started off with making a background and then went from there. This is what I came up with.
I totally love the end result! it was so much fun and was great to get my fingers all inky again.
My back ground was made with a mixture of distress paints and inks.
I used small paper bags for my photo mats, and it also allowed me to creat some hidden journalling on tag, which I placed in one of the wee bags.
I just love this photo of my wee man, growing up so fast. Alex aged 5 at KFC Dunedin 🙂
Thanks Sketchabilities for creating such a fun sketch. I had so much fun and will be back for sure. So all you scrapper out there wanting a challenge go check their blog out. They have some amazing designers and awesome examples. You can find them HERE
