Challenge from Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge: “We have two challenges every month, and you can play along with our prompt challenge and sketch challenge everyone month until the end of the month.  Don’t be shy, we love to see everyone’s work here.   Here is our prompt challenge for May – come play along!!! The prompt is: Scrap or art journal your baby picture.  Journal anything unusual or interesting – were you a twin? Sickly? Curious? Our sponsor is Scrapbook Fantasies, owned by design team member Alicia Redshaw. Alicia will send a beautiful pack of ribbons to a randomly drawn participant.”   Here is my take on the challenge,  I have decided as a challenge to myself  to do the prompt challenges in my art journal and to try a new technique each time. DSCF7537 DSCF7539 DSCF7540 DSCF7541 DSCF7544 DSCF7545 DSCF7546 I love my inks and it is my go to product ALL THE TIME, so this time I have used NONE!  I have used paint!   shock horror, and I must say that I like it 🙂   Its taken a while for me to get my head around paint but I am finally starting to figure out what you can create with them,  so many options! So now its your turn to find your baby photos and join in on our challenge.  Look forward to seeing what you create.  Please stop on over at the blog and check out the other ladies dt work for ideas…. Happy scrappin every one,  take care Donna xox

Time for our sketch challenge.  You have until the last day of the month at 9 PM EST to play along.  Here’s the sketch:

Here’s What I did

DSCF6432

I used a Chipboard Background frame from Memory Maze Chipboard and added a mixture of mediums to it,  Distress Paint, Wow Embossing Powders, Distress inks and some stamping.

DSCF6428

I made a cluster of flower and leaves, added some bling and some flourishesDSCF6429I spent a while on those butterflies,  I split them down the middle and embossed the insides and then embossed the top before adding to the background frame.DSCF6430 I just love layers 🙂DSCF6431Some of my kids, the younger 4 who keep me on the go 24/7,  love them to bits and this photo really shows their personal characters.

Well I hope you enjoyed my wee share today and I look forward to seeing what you create for this challenge.  Remember you have until the end of the month to get your entry in!

Have fun and take care  xox Donna

Challenge Time over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge

How exciting to see Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge up and running again.  Our first challenge is a sketch challenge and a fun one to!  Here is the sketch…….

From the creator Anne……

More excitement – our first sketch challenge since we’ve re-opened!!!  We hope you’ll  come visit and play along. No theme required – just interpret the sketch as you like, let others know about us and link back to our blog. You are welcome to combine our sketch with other non-sketch challenges.  You’re not restricted to a scrapbook layout in your interpretation of the sketch – you may art journal, make a card, or make a mixed media canvas.
Our sponsor is Scrapbook Fantasies, owned by design team member Alicia Redshaw, who will give a beautiful pack of ribbons to a randomly drawn participant.  We will feature our favourite layouts early in March on the blog.  We are always looking for guest designers, and often choose from amongst participants.
And here is my take on the sketch……
DSCF6101
I spent some time on the sewing machine today making the base for this layout.
DSCF6108

I then spent a bit of time applying some layers to the background
DSCF6104
selected the photo and added the pretty embellishments
DSCF6105
I added the title by using some Rub-ons, which went perfect with the photo.
DSCF6107
I used a cluster of flowers with the clock embellishment for my circle element of the layout.

and another little group of embellishments to the bottom corner.
So now its your turn,  use the sketch and have some fun… load up to the blog here
Thanks for visiting , take care and happy Scrappin.  xox Donna

A New Year and goals are set! First challenge for 2014

One thing I used to love doing was to join in scrapbooking challenges,  something I have not done for a very long time.  Last night My friend and I were checking something out on Facebook when a post on my news feed caught my eye…  (click on the photo and it will take you to Sketchabilities blog)

I just loved the look of it and instead of doing what I had planned with some mouse traps (lol more on that later, and no we don’t have mice 🙂 I decided to give the sketch a go.  After going through my papers which is a mission in its self I came back to doing what I love,  creating with ink and making my own.  I started off with making a background and then went from there. This is what I came up with.

DSCF5441

I totally love the end result!  it was so much fun and was great to get my fingers all inky again.

DSCF5442

My back ground was made with a mixture of distress paints and inks.

DSCF5443

I used small paper bags for my photo mats,  and it also allowed me to creat some hidden journalling  on tag,  which I placed in one of the wee bags.

DSCF5444

I just love this photo of my wee man,  growing up so fast.  Alex aged 5 at KFC Dunedin 🙂

Thanks Sketchabilities for creating such a fun sketch.  I had so much fun and will be back for sure.  So all you scrapper out there wanting a challenge go check their blog out.  They have some amazing designers and awesome examples.  You can find them HERE

It’s the little things…….

Hello everyone,  this month I thought I would try to get a challenge in.  I scanned a couple of sites and tried to set a goal to at least complete one.  Its been a while since I joined in and I miss doing them.  Well last night I realised that today is the 30th and I still have not done one,  So once the kiddlets went to bed I thought I would give it a shot.

Flourish with a bling was having a quote challenge, and I knew I had just the right photos for this.   New Zealand Paper Chase was having a stamping and sketch challenge which you could choose to use the sketch or not.  I thought  ummm I could combine but it did not end up that way…  no stamping on my layout!(crazy for me)  But I did love Sonya’s sketch which you can find here and it inspired this layout.

DSCF3066

I really enjoyed making this,  it’s so different from what i normally do and it will actually fit into Ruby’s album.

We were making cup cakes

DSCF3074

One of my most fav tech’s to do at the moment!  Adding foil to projects 🙂

DSCF3073

And because I did no stamping I made a card to enter which I will go live on the 6th September for Memory Maze Chipboard!  I made my own stamps, so tune in next week to see how I did it.

That’s all from me today,  Happy Scrappin everyone xox Donna.

Twelve Tags of 2013… February

Hello all, I said I would be back with another share today. This time round its the Tim tags for 2013.  I’ve decided to do mine this year on cards instead of tags.  Check out what Tim has done here.

Here is what I did….

I made four cards taking his ideas and techniques

DSCF9526

and some close-ups of each card, this would have to be my fav I think 🙂

DSCF9525

I did not use any embossing folders here, I made my own background with stamps and ink.

DSCF9524

I added some flourishes to this one :-)( from Flourish with a Bling)  and think it’s turned out lovely.

DSCF9523

and my last one to share is of my favourite stamp at the mow.  Gotta love this Dragonfly.

So if you have not had a go yet, go check Tim’s blog out and find out what he did and then play!  Happy Scrappin everyone  xox Donna

White, Black plus One challenge at FWAB, January 2013.

Have you gotten over Christmas and New Year 2013?  I hope you all have had a fabulous time with friends and family.  Are we all ready to Start a new year.  I have some goals I want to achieve this year and if I do what I want to do you should see me here a wee bit more.

Today I want to share with you January’s Challenge over at Flourish with a Bling

…It’s Rae, your hostess for the monthly Flourish with a Bling challenge: Black and White Plus One. And, it’s EXACTLY what is sounds like- create a project using black and white, plus another color of your choice. And, we aren’t going to be picky about it: for example, if you use blue, you can have as many shades of blue as you wish. And, you can have as much of, or as little of each color as you wish! Also, if  a light cream goes better than white for your project, that’s okay too…

Here is what I did for this challenge,  I kept it really simple and uncluttered.  I really wanted to focus on the photo of Amber-leigh.

DSCF7975

I have used Flourish with a Bling,  Black Bella Rhinestone flourish Frame around my photo.  I have added Blue adhesive pearls randomly with the clear dew drops.

DSCF7977

I have added the Denim Blue Luke flourishes to draw the eye to my photo of Amber-leigh.  To finish my layout I added a fine spray of blue glimmer mist.

The rules are simple, I look forward to seeing what you get up to.   Go visit here to see what the rest of the design team did.  Totally amazing 🙂

Here’s the Flourish with a bling products I used

FWAB Bella Rhinestone Flourishes Black Bella Rhinestone flourishes (black)

FWAB Luke Flourish Denim Blue Luke flourish (denim blue)

FWAB Adhesive Pearls 100 Pack Blue Adhesive pearls 100 pack (blue)

HAPPY SCRAPPIN EVERYONE  xox Donna 🙂
